athletics

Yesterday we had athletics today we are reflectioning here are the questions.


  • Athletics Reflection:
    • What was the most enjoyable part of athletics for you? Why? The Sausages because they were nice afterwards the sprints
    • What are you really proud of? Why? High jump because normally I don't do good but this time I made it to the top 5 and jumped hundred 125 cm.
    • What was the most challenging part? Why? The 800 meter because I'm not good at long distance. My chest was burning when I finished.
    • Where to now? What are your goals for next time? Why do you want to focus on this? My goal for next time is to work on sprints.i want to work on this because I want to get faster

description: in week 5 we had market day.we made a movie about asking to buy the product I worked        With Zara and Yassmine  here our movie.

Prep market day

Description: this term we finsh prep. I was in a group with Luke Cater and Yassmine. In my group we were first go in time make popcorn but then Yassmine had a good idea to make stress balls so we made stress ball with hair and faces. To make them we weighed out how much flower we needed and put it in a bottle then you blow up a balloon and put it on the bottle and let the flour go into the ballon then put one more balloon over the first one and your done. When we sold out we had $88 in our bag

Risk taking lesson

description: in the last few weeks me and 19 others have been in a group where we took risks.the last lesson we had was about taking risks in our learning.today we got to teach the lesson to 4-3 other people. I had aria,Atlanta,Sophie and tabitha.the lesson was about helping them with someone that is risky. You made a action plan to help you accomplish the risk .they send me some feedback and feedforward.

Description:in the past few weeks we have been making self portraits with marks that told a story about us.first we made a page in our book of different marks that we could put in our portrait.then we made a A3 sheet of tests like trying to blend colours.once we finish that we made our portrait and then put our marks in the room left.then coloured them in and our face.

Et reo portfolio post

Description: in et roe this term we have been learning about whakatauki. Whakatauki in English means proverb. it is some thing to live by and it can give wisdom . That first whakatauki we did was he aha the mea nui o te ao he tangata he tangata he tangata witch meanswhat is the most important thing in the world the people the people the people.once we had learnt the whakatauki we went on to making a picture of our self  and put it on the wall. We made people because the whakatauki was about people being the most important thing in the world. Add on: in the last 2weeks me Loki and Louis made a mountain out of cardboard and paper the whakatauki was whāia the iti kahuarangi ki te tūohu koe me he maunga teitei. Witch means don't  trip on a pebble trip over a lofty mountain. For this whakatauki we could chose our own action.

Evaluation:I found whakatauki saying the whakatauki hard at first but now I can say it a lot better now. Next time I could finish my people to a higher standard.

Book buddies

Description:in reading we have been doing book buddies.were you and your buddie chose a book and read it.me and Houston are reading the big game. In book buddies time you and your buddie chose a card to work on like one time me and Houston did a card where you make a 3D thing from your book  .

Feedback/feedforward:I thin that you and Houston work really well together because the slide is showing me that but next time  maybe tell us what card your talking about

Evaluation:I think so far am doing well with the activity and we are nearly finished the book.next time I could make sure that I read up to and don't read past the chapter that we decided on.

Maths

Luke Howard

 Description :last week we watched a video about how the clouds got there names.we made notes to remember and then turned them into a story.

Luke Howard was fascinated in clouds, he spent most of his time in class looking out at the clouds. Luke wanted to be a meteorologist but he was a pharmacist.after years of observation he noticed that the clouds have lots so shapes but one form.he came up with Latin names for the clouds. Stratus means a sheet of clouds cumulus is a heap of clouds and cirrus is Latin for a string of hair. When clouds form together they make clouds like cumulonimbus which is the cloud that has lots of water and sometimes lightning.j.w.von Goethe and Percy Shelley wrote poems about him and his clouds.john constable sent two summers painting the clouds.thanks to Luke Howard meteorologist today can predict what that weather will be.

This term we were learning a new song  aotearoa and how to say things on the table like fruit and veg we play a game to help us learn.after you learnt the fruits and vegetables you chose how you or your group would share what you leant and how to help others learn.  me luke and Sam made a kahoot.

This is what I did for math today

Maths test

I did  a stage 5 knowledge test at start of the year  and passed I got 94% I improved lots since the start of the year. I then did the stage 6 text and got 50% i got 47 questions right out of 50 for my stage 5 test. Say if I got 20 questions right you times it by 2 so you would get 40%.you need 80% our higher to move on to the next stage.

seed to table

Description: For 3 weeks we did seed to table in seed to table you make food and science. For my groups experiment we watered are plants with different liquids coffee, salt water, soap water, Coke, vinegar and tap water. We made a slide about our experiment. In seed to table we split in to 3 or 2 groups and get different parts of the food made. An example one week we made a apple crumble and my group peeled all of the apple for the crumble. 


Feedforward/feedback: I like how you explained how you helped and what you were focusing on Max but maybe you could say who you were working with? Patrick

Evaluation:I think that I explained what seed to table was prettey well. But next time I could add more detail and update my slide.

Description:at sport start one of the games we play is called gateways you have a gate and pass a ball to your friend. You can make it harder by  catching the ball with one hand.

 Description: we did a sport exchange with dps we have the same number of year 6 and 5s.to win the flag you had to win games and get the trophy . There are 5 sports we had 3 netball 2 basketball 3 soccer 3 hokey and 2 Ruby I  played basketball we won are game and the other team won to so we got the basketball trophy we won the soccer to and they won ruby hokey and netball.

Description:every Friday we have science our focus was whether.we made a barometer too Measure the pressure in the air if it was high it would be a  hotter day but if it was low it would a cold/rain.we stared Recording what type of clouds were in the sky and what the actual weather was. We also took a photo if the clouds everyday from the same spot.we chose a  experiment  That we wanted to do but I didn't have  enough time.

El rancho horses 2016 writing portfolio

Description:when we got back from camp on the first day back we put all of our ideas in our writer note book. Then we chose what we would write we have a way of wirting called pies p for persuade I inform e for entertain and s for self I chose inform. Once we finshed we re-crafted our wirting and once were happy with it we put it on docs.

Description:every  Monday afternoon we have been making our family tree some people can go back far.i can only go back to my grandparents. we learned the māori words to.like mum is fire and dad is pāpā. Or my older bothers are called tuakana.

2016 camp portfolio post

 Description:On Tuesday the 8 of March we went to Camp El rancho in waikenae for 4 days. We had 10 activities to do horses,rafting,kayaking,pool,water slide,archery lots of activities. My 2 favourite were 1 horses and 2 archery. Horses was my favourite thing because i have never been on a horses before. I went on rusty he was really slow. In archery I got a 4 a 3 and a 1. On Wednesday we walked to the beach a made a sand Castle and then made a hunt out of wood and sand with Hunter Loki and Jayden. That Night we had a bomb fire and made s'mores. After that we played spotlight then went to bed. Thursday night we had our last skit practice. Then parents came and we had our camp concert. My group did a Shadow play I was bear grills. After that the parents that came and helped on camp played pie in the face. Nic put wiped cream on it and when you clicked it around and it might fling cream at your face. On Friday we packed up and when on the bus to levin we went on the playground. After that when we were leaving from levin they sing me happy birthday and gave me a yummy birthday cake.

Good and bad listening

Description:we have been learning about  types of  listening. Active listening me to listening and Busy listening.me Bella and zoey made a 30 Second movie about them.

Big idea: active listening is when you listen to what they are saying and wait for your turn to talk. Busy listening is when the person is talking they are looking around the room and not focused.me to listening is when someone is talking and the another person and they did something similar and start talking about that.

Evaluation:next time we could of talked slower like Angus said.i think that we explained the different types of listening clearly. I need to work on active listening because a some times get distracted.




My one word 2016

Description: First we chose our one word. My one word is leadership I choose leadership because I wanted to improve of my leadership skills.Then we shared them on Twitter. Next we used our word for some art. We got our photo taken and printed like we were holdings signs. We measuredour photo and practice our word in different ways like super heroes animals. To show leadership in my art I put little people in there like one was showing the way. When we were happy with it we put it on good paper and glue it on to our photo.
