Remember we can question before we read…
What is this going to be about? What do I already know that will help me understand? what do I want to find out?
We can question as we read…
what does that mean? what is going to happen next? what else do I want to know?
We can question after we read…
does that make sense? what have I learned? have I answered my earlier questions? what else do I want to know?
- I learned to: ask questions
- Most challenging was: getting my questions was challenging
- Next step is to: ask harder questions
Max, you use prediction and questioning as strategies to help 'tune in' to your text. This helps you to understand what you are reading better. Thinking about asking questions can be tricky but this is what helps you to understand. Remember to keep thinking and wondering as you read and you will become an active reader!
Sharing our Stories
We have been creating a variety of art pieces this term. These pieces are all about ourselves and sharing our stories. We have used different media like collage, watercolour, crayon and clay to create our art. We are beginning to make choices as artists. Each piece of art shares a little about us.
WALT: share our stories and ideas through art.
WALT: explore a variety of media and make choices about
how we want our finished piece to look
Success criteria: * our message is clear
* our art represents us
* we have tried different media
* we choose the media to create the
effect we want
My Buddy Thinks
my message is clear
dose it look like me?
it looks like me
my art represents me
it represents me because i made it.
it means i like minecraft
I have tried different media
i like using water paint.
i liked paint
I choose media to create the effect I wanted
my favourite media is… because
water paint because i have not used it for
paint because i like paint
Max, you are thinking about the message you want to share and how you want to share it. You are choosing symbols to share some of your interests like minecraft and sport. As an artist you are making choices about how you want your finished piece to look, like your portrait where you chose to leave the skin white. I am looking forward to the rest of the year to see what other creative choices you make.
